PARENTS HELPING PARENTS SPRING 2017 SEMESTER IS CURRETLY UNDERWAY!!

Parents Helping Parents has begun its Spring 2017 Semester; meetings are every Wednesday evening from 5:30 until 7:00.

First Presbyterian Church offers this program to the community FREE OF CHARGE.  We begin each evening with a light meal, provided by the participating parents.  Parents, children, and youth meet in their own group for the meal and for their program. The topics for parents generally included basic needs of children, child safety, self-esteem, morals and values, mutual respect, education, discipline, manners, teaching by example, suicide prevention. Parent input guide the topics we discuss throughout the semester.  There is no fee for the program; the only cost is the food for the meal.  We have a family atmosphere.  We stress "parents helping parents",  have open discussions around the table, seldom lecture or use videos, and have prayer.

Our program is sponsored by Methodist Healthcare Ministries in San Antonio which provides us with curriculum, training, funds, and support

-  Childcare for the very young
-  Programs for young children and youth
-  Parents Helping Parents (PHP) support group for adults
-  AND IT'S ALL FREE!!

Topics are wide-ranging, such as:

-  Anger Management for Kids and Adults
-  Skills on how to talk to our children
-  Family financial matters

Our light meals (typically salads, sandwiches, soups, pizza, casseroles, and subs) are provided by the parents who attend.  We always need extra food due to the sheer number of kids who attend, along with their growing appetites.  If you can help us out at any time, please call us.

One very important note:  Your children MUST understand that once they are dropped off at the church by you, or by someone else, they MUST stay at the church.  This policy is for the protection of your child, the church, the church staff, and the volunteers.

Please call us at the numbers shown below if you have any questions.  PLEASE JOIN US!  We look forward to sharing many enjoyable Wednesday evenings with you!
